Privacy Policy — Fabreasy Drag & Drop for Mac

This policy covers the Mac app Fabreasy Drag & Drop, both the version from the Mac App Store and the version downloaded from pdfcreator.fabreasy.com. It is made by Fabreasy (Yellow Smile), Henry Dunantlaan 16, Delft, the Netherlands. Questions about privacy: info@fabreasy.com.
In short
- Your documents, letterhead and signatures are processed on your Mac and never sent to us.
- No advertising, no tracking, no third-party analytics or advertising code in the app.
- The app asks at the first start whether you want to share anonymous usage figures. You can change your answer at any time.
- If you use a Fabreasy license key, the app checks it with our license server. The download version also checks its trial and looks for updates.
What stays on your Mac
Placing letterhead and signatures, converting Word, Excel, Pages and Numbers files, and adding a password all happen on your Mac. Your settings, letterhead sets, signatures and logs are stored on your Mac only; passwords for your PDFs are kept in your Mac's keychain. When you email a document, the app hands it to your own mail app (Apple Mail or Outlook) and you send it yourself; it does not pass through our servers. If you make a signature with your camera, the photo is processed and stored on your Mac only.
What the app sends
License check. When you enter a Fabreasy license key, and afterwards from time to time, the app sends to our license server: the license key, the user name of your Mac account, the name of your Mac (for example "iMac-of-John") and the app version. We use this only to check that the license is valid and used by no more than the agreed number of users; the license holder can see and remove these users in the customer portal, and you can free your seat with Manage › License… › Release This Computer. We keep this data as long as the license runs and anonymize it 24 months after the license has ended. Invoices are kept for seven years, as Dutch law requires. The Mac App Store version works without a license key; there the app only sends this if you choose to enter one.
Version check (download version only). Once a day the download version asks our server which version is the newest, so it can tell you when there is an update. It sends the app version and nothing about you. The App Store version does not do this; its updates come through the App Store.
Trial (download version only). During the 14-day trial the download version checks once a day whether the trial is still valid. It sends the trial code, the number of days left and a code derived one-way from your Mac's hardware identifier, so that reinstalling the app does not restart the trial. We keep this for at most 24 months. The App Store version does not do this.
Anonymous usage figures (optional). At the first start the app asks whether you want to share anonymous usage statistics (in the Mac App Store version the box is not ticked: nothing is sent unless you tick it). If you share them, the app sends once a day: a random installation number (made on your Mac, not derived from your Mac or from you), how often the app was started, how many documents and pages were processed and whether they were saved, emailed or printed, which features were used (such as signatures and tags), whether you use the free version, a trial, a subscription or a license, the app version, the language of the app, the macOS version and whether the app came from the App Store or from our site. It never sends your name, email address, license key, file names or the contents of your documents, and the IP address is not stored with these figures. We use them only to see how the app is used and to improve it. You can switch this off at any time in Settings › License; the button What exactly is sent? there shows exactly what is ready to be sent. We keep usage figures for at most 24 months.
Support (only when you choose to). With Manage › Report a Problem… the app makes a support package with your settings and the log, and puts it in an email to info@fabreasy.com in your own mail app. You see what is included and you send it yourself. It never contains your license key, passwords or signatures (these are replaced by gray areas of the same size); your letterhead and the document itself only if you tick them. We use the package only to solve your problem and delete it when that is done. Crash reports stay on your Mac unless you send them to us yourself.
Purchases in the Mac App Store. Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment details or your Apple Account; the app checks with the App Store on your Mac whether a subscription is active. Apple's privacy policy applies to the purchase.
Who receives the data
Only Fabreasy. Our license server and database run at Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany (EU), which processes the data on our behalf under a data processing agreement and offers the same protection as described here. Server backups are overwritten after seven days, technical logs after five weeks at most. We do not sell data, do not share it for advertising and do not use it to track you across apps or websites.
Your choices and rights
- Stop usage figures: Settings › License, switch off the usage statistics. Nothing is sent from then on.
- Delete what is on your Mac: Settings › Full Reset… removes your settings, letterhead, signatures, saved passwords and usage counters (your license and trial status stay). Removing the app from Applications stops everything.
- Stop the license check: Manage › License… › Release This Computer frees your seat; deleting the app alone does not.
- Delete what we have: email info@fabreasy.com. For usage figures, include the installation number shown under What exactly is sent?; for license data, the license key or the email address of the license. We handle requests within 30 days.
- Under the GDPR you may also ask which data we have about you, have it corrected, object to its use, or receive a copy. You can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Legal basis: the license check is needed to perform the license agreement; the usage figures rest on your choice at the first start, which you can change at any time; support is handled at your request.
Children
Fabreasy Drag & Drop is a business app and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
Changes
If what the app sends changes, we update this page before that version is released and change the date at the top.
